What actually happens once Redar Park runs out of Saturdays?
That question matters more than it sounds like it should if you live in Schererville and treat the town's calendar as background noise for planning a night out. Redar Park has carried nearly every big communal moment this year. Schererville Fest ran five days in June. Party in the Park filled a July evening. The Corn Roast took over two nights in mid-August. Three of the summer's four marquee events are already behind us. One is left, and after that, the park goes quiet until next year's calendar resets.
But something else has been happening at the same time, a few minutes away, that doesn't answer to a parks and recreation schedule at all. The intersection of Lincoln Highway and Wicker Avenue has quietly become the town's one social anchor that doesn't take a season off.
What Redar Park Has Already Spent This Year
Before getting to what's left, it's worth naming what's gone. The town's biggest annual party, Celebrate Schererville, ran June 10 through 14 with carnival rides, a parade, and five nights of live entertainment. Party in the Park took its turn at the park on the evening of July 17. The Schererville Chamber's Corn Roast, an annual staple at Redar Park, filled two more evenings, August 14 and 15.
That's a lot of Redar Park real estate spent before Labor Day even shows up on the calendar. If you missed all three, the park isn't done with you yet, but it's close.
What's Actually Left Before the Park Goes Quiet
Here's the honest accounting of what remains at Redar Park this season:
- Boots & Brews, Saturday, August 29, 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The early hours run family-friendly, with a petting zoo, kids' activities, and instructor-led line dancing with Linda Scott starting at 5:00 p.m. After 8:00 p.m. it shifts into a country night with live music from the Rocky Road Band, plus food trucks, a beer garden, and vendor booths running the entire evening.
- The Thursday farmers market, still running its regular 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. window through late September, with the same rotation of produce stands, baked goods, and local vendors that's defined the town's weeknight rhythm since early June.
- The Schererville Street Fest, September 18 and 19, which closes out the season but does it outside the park's usual footprint, on the street rather than the lawn.
After that stretch, the town's official calendar of large gatherings goes dark until spring. Boots & Brews is genuinely the last big Saturday the park has planned this year.
The Corner That Doesn't Care What Month It Is
Here's the part that's easy to miss if you're only tracking festival dates: while Redar Park's calendar is seasonal by design, two new fixtures opened in Schererville this year that run on their own schedule entirely, regardless of season.
The more established of the two sits at 813 West Lincoln Highway, right at the corner of Lincoln Highway and Wicker Avenue, in the space that used to hold Burgerhaus. Lincoln & Wicker opened its doors on November 21, 2025, which means as of this August it's had close to nine months to move past opening-week buzz and settle into being a regular Tuesday-night option rather than a novelty. Chef Jay Ruff, who brings more than 33 years of culinary experience, including time spent shaping concepts in Chicago, has said his two favorite Chicago neighborhoods are Lincoln Park and Wicker Park, and his restaurant happens to sit at the one Schererville intersection carrying both those names. The menu draws from that same range, with dishes like Moroccan lamb and Korean pork belly on offer. It's open Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday from 2:00 to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Elsewhere in downtown Schererville, Brew Haven opened this past April as a specialty coffee shop serving pastries and light fare. It's newer and smaller in profile than Lincoln & Wicker, but it fills a gap the town's dining scene didn't really have before: a daytime, any-day-of-the-week reason to be downtown that isn't tied to dinner reservations or festival weekends.
Put those two together and you get something Redar Park's programming can't offer by design. A festival calendar is built around a handful of big Saturdays. A restaurant and a coffee shop are built around every Tuesday, every Wednesday, every ordinary week that doesn't have anything else going on.

This isn't a knock on the park's programming. Boots & Brews sounds like a genuinely good night, and the farmers market's Thursday-evening slot has clearly built a following worth showing up for. But a town's actual day-to-day texture, the stuff that fills the weeks between festival weekends, gets shaped more by what's open on an ordinary Tuesday than by what happens five times a year.
The Old Anchor Is Still There, Too
None of this means Schererville's food scene is being reinvented overnight. Teibel's Family Restaurant, sitting right at the corner of Route 30 and Route 41, has been serving its lake perch and fried chicken for generations, and it isn't going anywhere. The town's dining map has always had that kind of anchor, a place regulars default to without thinking about it. What's changed this year isn't the presence of an old standby. It's that Lincoln Highway and Wicker Avenue now has a second kind of anchor next to it, one aimed at a moodier, cocktail-forward evening rather than a family dinner, and it's proven durable enough over nine months to stop being news and start being routine.
What This Means for the Next Few Weeks
If you're timing your late-summer plans around Redar Park, the math is simple: one more Saturday (Boots & Brews on the 29th), a handful more Thursday evenings at the farmers market, and one final weekend in mid-September for the Street Fest. After that, the park's next big date is months away.
But that's only half the calendar now. Lincoln & Wicker doesn't ask what week it is, and neither does Brew Haven. Whatever weeknight rhythm you build around them in October will look almost identical to the one you'd build in June. That's the actual shift worth noticing this year.
